Officers President/Administrator Jim Pearson Financial Secretary Treasurer Shelly Ervin Vice-President Lorrie Dyer Union Representatives Executive Officers President/Administrator Jim Pearson  Jim Pearson was elected by the membership as President/Administrator of Local 40 in February, 2008, after having served in the position since 2006 when he was appointed in a unanimous decision by the union's Executive Board (ratified by the membership). Brother Pearson worked as a Union Rep at Local 40's head office in Burnaby since 1986 when he was initially brought on as an Organizer.
Pearson's background working as a bartender at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver led to his initial involvement with his union as he stepped forward and spoke out on behalf of his union brothers and sisters as an active Shop Steward and then Shop Chair. He has since worked as a Union Representative, Business Manager and Administrative Assistant to former Local 40 president Nick Worhaug. Pearson is a skilled negotiator who has also been an integral member of numerous bargaining committees over the years of his involvement with Local 40. Since taking office in 2006, Pearson has led the union in a series of successful and historic contract negotiations covering more than 3500 members working throughout the province. He has also been instrumental in bringing the successful Hotel Workers RISING and Service Workers RISING programs to the Local 40 membership. Brother Pearson is an Executive Officer of the BC Federation of Labour, and also sits on the Advisory Committee of go2, a non-profit association that focuses on human resource issues in the British Columbia tourism industries. e-mail Local 40 President/Administrator Jim Pearson Financial Secretary Treasurer Shelly Ervin  Shelly Ervin was re-elected as Local 40's Financial Secretary Treasurer in February, 2008 to serve a second consecutive term of office.
Prior to being elected as Secretary-Treasurer in 2003, Sister Ervin served as an Executive Board member with Local 40 and has worked in the hotel industry locally in Vancouver and internationally in Australia. Shelly is well known as a passionate and vigorous defender of workers’ rights and has served as a shop steward, an organizer, a negotiator, a committee member and an educator, as well as a political activist. A long time union activist and champion of workers’ right, Lorrie Dyer is a former Executive Board member for Local 40 and serves as the Area Steward for UNITE HERE Local 40 members working on Northern Vancouver Island.
