Vancouver -- UNITE HERE Local 40 members working at the downtown Vancouver corporate hotels have stepped up their demands for a new contract as bargaining resumed this week.

After voting in favour of strike action last month, the Vancouver hotel workers have been busy organizing and planning for the return to the bargaining table. With the assistance of a mediator, management made some movement on Thursday on issues proposed by the union.

Although the moves were positive, the hotel workers feel they still have a very long way to go.

Bargaining is scheduled for three days this week.
